National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp 2026
A seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp was organized by Govt. Post Graduate College, Ranikhet from 20 to 26 March 2026 at Inter College, Khirkhet. The camp aimed to build awareness among students about social service, environmental protection and civic responsibility. Roots 'N Horizon Welfare Society participated actively in the camp. Vijay Bisht, Bharat Joshi and Shivanshu Tiwari represented the Society and engaged with NSS volunteers during the camp. Bharat Joshi addressed the students about the harmful effects of plastic waste and the importance of Civic Sense, inspiring them to protect the environment. The program was conducted under the guidance of NSS in-charges Dr. Satyamitra Singh, Dr. Babita Kandpal and Dr. Rekha Bhatt. Dr. Pushpesh Pandey (Principal, PG College Ranikhet) and Dr. Nidhi Pandey (HoD, English Dept.) graced the event with their presence. They appreciated the efforts of Roots N Horizon's young members and encouraged students to come forward for environmental education and rural development of Uttarakhand. Student Union President Harshit Rautela and Secretary Gaurav Tiwari were also present and motivated students to participate enthusiastically in social service. Society members Megha Joshi, Neha Rana Bisht, Anjali Tiwari and Pooja Bisht also attended. Vijay Bisht, President of Roots N Horizon Welfare Society, stated that the society will continue to organize various social and awareness program with the students and faculty of Govt. PG College, Ranikhet in the future as well. The seven-day NSS camp concluded with an inspiring message of environmental protection, social awareness and youth participation in the development of rural Uttarakhand. राजकीय स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय, रानीखेत द्वारा 20 मार्च से 26 मार्च 2026 तक सात दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना (NSS) विशेष शिविर का आयोजन इंटर कॉलेज, खिरखेत में किया गया। इस शिविर का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों में सामाजिक सेवा, पर्यावरण संरक्षण तथा नागरिक जिम्मेदारी के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाना था। इस अवसर पर रूट्स 'एन होराइजन वेलफेयर सोसायटी ने सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया। सोसायटी की ओर से विजय बिष्ट, भारत जोशी और शिवांश तिवारी ने शिविर में सहभागिता करते हुए NSS स्वयंसेवकों के साथ संवाद किया। भरत जोशी ने विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हुए प्लास्टिक कचरे के दुष्प्रभावों और नागरिक शिष्टाचार (Civic Sense) के महत्व के बारे में जानकारी दी तथा पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूक रहने का संदेश दिया। कार्यक्रम का संचालन NSS प्रभारियों डॉ. सत्यमित्र सिंह, डॉ. बबीता कांडपाल और डॉ. रेखा भट्ट के कुशल निर्देशन में किया गया। कार्यक्रम में राजकीय स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय, रानीखेत के प्राचार्य डॉ. पुष्पेश पांडे एवं अंग्रेज़ी विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. निधि पांडे की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति रही। उन्होंने रूट्स 'एन होराइजन वेलफेयर सोसायटी के युवा सदस्यों के प्रयासों और उनके दूरदर्शी दृष्टिकोण की सराहना की। उन्होंने छात्रों को पर्यावरण शिक्षा और ग्रामीण उत्तराखंड के विकास के लिए आगे आने के लिए प्रेरित किया। इस अवसर पर छात्रसंघ अध्यक्ष हर्षित रौतेला तथा सचिव गौरव तिवारी भी उपस्थित रहे और उन्होंने छात्रों को समाज सेवा के कार्यों में बढ़-चढ़कर भाग लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया। कार्यक्रम में सोसायटी के अन्य पदाधिकारी मेघा जोशी, नेहा राणा बिष्ट, अंजली तिवारी और पूजा बिष्ट भी उपस्थित रहीं। विजय बिष्ट, अध्यक्ष (रूट्स एन होराइजन वेलफेयर सोसायटी) ने कहा कि संस्था भविष्य में भी राजकीय पी.जी. कॉलेज, रानीखेत के छात्रों और शिक्षकों के साथ मिलकर विभिन्न सामाजिक और जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करती रहेगी। सात दिवसीय NSS शिविर का समापन पर्यावरण संरक्षण, सामाजिक जागरूकता और ग्रामीण उत्तराखंड के विकास में युवाओं की सहभागिता के एक प्रेरक संदेश के साथ हुआ।
Jhalori Village Welfare & Cleanliness Campaign
Roots N Horizon Welfare Society and Guldavari Foundation honoured the villagers of Jhalodi gram for their outstanding contribution to environmental protection, cleanliness and rural development. The recognition was awarded for a successful campaign to reclaim barren and shrub-covered land through voluntary community labour (shramdaan). The indomitable spirit and collective resolve of the villagers breathed new life into land once considered impossible to cultivate. Women who actively participated in the campaign led by former Gram Pradhan Rajesh Kumar and current Gram Pradhan Smt. Ritu received special recognition. The Gram Pradhan felicitated outstanding contributors with an incentive of ₹1,100 each. The Gram Sabha announced the purchase of plastic waste at ₹20 per kilogram — a revolutionary step towards making the village plastic-free. Gram Vikas Adhikari Ravindra Rawat praised the initiative and noted that Jhalodi has set an inspiring example for the entire region. Five dedicated women were honoured with the title of "Safai Mitra" (Clean Friends), who will continue to champion cleanliness in the village. The event concluded with a collective pledge to make Jhalodi village clean, green and plastic-free — not the end of a program, but the beginning of a new journey. झलोडी ग्राम में पर्यावरण संरक्षण, स्वच्छता एवं ग्रामीण विकास में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए रूट्स एन होराइजन वेलफेयर सोसाइटी एवं गुलदावरी फाउंडेशन ने ग्रामीणों को सम्मानित किया। यह सम्मान श्रमदान से बंजर एवं झाड़ियों से ढकी भूमि को पुनः उपयोगी बनाने के सफल अभियान के लिए दिया गया। ग्रामीणों के अदम्य साहस और सामूहिक संकल्प ने उस भूमि को नया जीवन दिया जिसे कभी उपजाऊ बनाना असंभव माना जाता था। पूर्व ग्राम प्रधान राजेश कुमार एवं वर्तमान ग्राम प्रधान श्रीमती ऋतु के नेतृत्व में चले इस अभियान में सक्रिय महिलाओं को विशेष सम्मान मिला। इस ऐतिहासिक कार्यक्रम में ग्राम प्रधान ने उत्कृष्ट कार्य करने वाले ग्रामीणों को ₹1,100 की प्रोत्साहन राशि से सम्मानित किया। यह राशि उन लोगों को दी गई जिन्होंने अपना अमूल्य समय और श्रम इस अभियान में लगाया। ग्राम सभा ने एक महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय लेते हुए प्लास्टिक कचरा ₹20 प्रति किलोग्राम की दर से खरीदने की घोषणा की। यह पहल ग्राम को प्लास्टिक मुक्त बनाने की दिशा में एक क्रांतिकारी कदम है, जो ग्रामीणों को स्वच्छता अभियान में भागीदार बनाती है। ग्राम विकास अधिकारी रविन्द्र रावत ने इस अभियान की भूरि-भूरि सराहना करते हुए कहा कि झलोडी ग्राम ने पूरे क्षेत्र के लिए एक प्रेरणादायक उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किया है। कार्यक्रम की सबसे उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धि रही — पाँच समर्पित महिलाओं को "सफाई मित्र" के रूप में चुना जाना। ये महिलाएँ अब ग्राम में स्वच्छता के प्रहरी के रूप में कार्य करेंगी और भविष्य में भी इस मिशन को आगे बढ़ाएंगी। कार्यक्रम का समापन एक सामूहिक संकल्प के साथ हुआ — झलोडी गांव को स्वच्छ, हरित एवं प्लास्टिक मुक्त बनाने का दृढ़ प्रण। यह संकल्प केवल एक कार्यक्रम का अंत नहीं, बल्कि एक नई यात्रा की शुरुआत है।
